Antique Japanese Samurai Kawari Kabuto Japanese Kawari Kabuto or "Unusual Helmet". Made from russet iron color lacquered iron plates with large Maedate iron prongs to each side and the front. Five (5) stage neck lames also lacquered iron. inside of peak lacquered red. Dark blue lacing, hemp lining, silk neck cord. Unlike some Kawari Kabuto that were a basic bowl with the top part being lacquered leather or similar, this Kabuto is all iron and is well made Dates to the mid-to-late Edo period or around 200 years old.
