Antique Japanese Samurai Kabuto

Edo period Japanese Samurai Helmet or Kabuto.  Made of lacquered iron plates with gold-lacquered edges and family mon ( crest  ) to each side.  Five (5) stage neck lames also lacquered metal plates and laced with dark blue and multi coloured lacing.

Inside peak lacquered red, original hemp lining complete but has come away from the edges.  Later replaced neck cord. Overall an original good quality Kabuto that is around 180 years old.  Comes with Japanese made stand to display it on.
