Japanese Samurai Armor Edo Period

A good quality edo period Samurai armor, it dates to the late 1700's.

The Kabuto is a black lacquered iron one with lacquered neck lames that match the 'Do'.  It has the original lining and neck cord. There is a mon to
each side.

The menpo or mask is black lacquered iron with lacquered iron neck lames.

The 'Do' is  black lacquered with front and back plates held by two hinged side plates each side.  The laced plates that hang from it are lacquered iron.

The Sode, or shoulder guards are lacquered iron with matching lacing.

The Kote are lacquered metal plates over chain mail and backed with heavy fabric.  The shin guards are lacquered metal plates over chain mail and backed with heavy fabric.  The thigh apron has unusual triangle lacquered iron plates held by chain mail on fabric.

Overall a unusual set of Samurai Armor that dates to the mid Edo period and is in good condition with only a couple of minor breaks to the lacing(normal for armor of this age).  All of the heavy brocade type fabric on this armour has been restored in Japan many years ago and is in very good condition.
